Caustic Guide – Apex Legends

If you’re reading this, you’re probably seeking ways to improve your skills playing as Caustic in Apex Legends. For a character such as Caustic, defensive tactics are all the rage. His super deadly gas traps can quickly overwhelm and hinder the mobility of opposing squads, offering you and your teammates fertile opportunity for ambushes. At a glance, this stinky fellow’s abilities often seem more contextual than universally functional, but with a bit of practice under your belt, you can easily use that to your advantage. Keep reading for everything you need to know about Caustic’s abilities, his strengths and weaknesses, and a selection of tips on how to use him effectively so that you can lead your team to victory.

His abilities are all about the gas

As stated above, Caustic’s strategies are a bit contextual. His Gas Traps are lethal, but it takes a firm understanding of their capabilities to use them effectively. And with such a large map where numerous battle scenarios are possible, finding the right time to leverage Caustic’s strengths proves more difficult than you’d expect. That said, getting a feel for that takes time, so remain patient and don’t hesitate to adjust his abilities to the needs of your team.

Caustic can drop Nox Gas Trap canisters as his tactical ability. These release deadly gas when shot or triggered by enemies. Gas effectively blinds enemies, while damaging them over time, making it great for close-range encounters.

His passive Nox Vision allows you to see enemies through gas. It’s pretty convenient, as enemies afflicted by your toxic gas are highlighted in green for both you and your squadmates.

Caustic’s ultimate ability is Nox Gas Grenade, which blankets a large area in his stinky green gas. This ability can be used defensively or offensively, putting enemy squads into a state of panic in confined space or sending them running in the other direction.

The fundamentals come first

In battle, Caustic is best in close quarters situations. His gas abilities let you control a fight by blanketing areas to force enemies out of or away from them, and can give your team a serious advantage as your opponents are damaged, slowed, and blinded. Use Caustic to try to control the battlefield and give your team strategic advantages, and sew chaos among enemy teams whenever possible by gassing them out.

You can throw up to six Nox Gas Traps at a time. You have three on cooldown, but once that ends, you can drop three more, or drop one as you get them back off a cooldown. Any traps you don’t use, you can also pick back up, so keep that in mind. Just be aware that your gas can negatively affect your teammates. It won’t kill them, but it can blind and slow them.

Gas canisters: the perfect offensive defense

He’s also good for countering tracker or scout characters such as Bloodhound or Wraith–gas traps placed carefully can slow people following you, block pathways (especially doors), and force players to move through pathways that help your teammates. It can be helpful to toss them down behind your team as you move up, too. This will alert you if anyone’s triggered them or is trying to sneak up on you. In addition, you can drop traps near downed enemies in hopes of luring their teammates near them.

Seeing through the stink

The enemy outlining provided by Caustic’s Nox Vision is a nice perk that should encourage you to use your traps more liberally. While it’s unlikely that an enemy will spend a lot of time in the gas, it will at least give you a quick idea of where they’re at and where you should move to counter them. The gas won’t hurt your teammates but be aware that their visibility in gas is still similar to smoke grenades, so try not to go overboard–lest you want to frustrate your squad.

Trap and ambush your foes with your gas

Caustic’s Nox Gas Grenades are useful in leading enemies into an ambush. It’s also particularly useful in pushing enemies away, so you can give your squad time to revive downed teammates. You can even throw them in the opposite scenario, preventing enemy squads from bringing back their friends.

Another handy strategy is to combo Caustic’s gas trap and gas grenade in a confined space. If you’re able to block an enemy into a room with a trap, throw a grenade inside. Assuming they aren’t smart enough to grenade the door, this deadly combination should make for a guaranteed kill. All this talk about deadly gas is great, but don’t think the enemy is completely powerless. Beware of incoming Grenades or Arc Stars while your gas is active on the field.

Sorry, Alien- Romulus, The Best Alien Sequel Is Still Alien- Isolation

There’s something specific about Ridley Scott’s 1979 movie Alien that makes it such an enduring classic. With the combination of its heavy focus on relatable, blue-collar characters, its dingy, lived-in capitalist version of space travel, and its stalking, unknowably malevolent creature, it creates a feeling that other horror movies have chased and tried to replicate again and again across the decades since its release.

The latest attempt to recapture what made Alien so viscerally, singularly frightening is Alien: Romulus, a sequel to that original movie. It does a better job than some of the Alien canon of at least creating scary moments with the universe’s greatest killing machine, but it relies on explosive, bombastic moments with H.R. Geiger’s xenomorph, much like the rest of the series’ sequels.

It’s a solid-enough movie, but it’s not frightening in the same way that Alien is frightening. Facehuggers burst from hiding and scramble over …

Difficulty Of Diablo 4's Abbatoir Of Zir Event Is "Pretty Excessive," So It's Getting A Major Nerf

After player feedback and complaints, Diablo IV’s meant-to-be-hard Abbatoir of Zir event is having its difficulty significantly scaled down.

The Abbatoir of Zir event kicked off on December 5 as part of Diablo IV’s vampire-themed Season 2, and was intended as a way for max-level players with optimal gear to further challenge themselves after having already conquered the game’s level 100 Nightmare dungeons. Even so, players complained about just how much harder the event–which functions similarly to Greater Rifts in Diablo III in that players must kill a certain number of enemies within a time limit–was to the game’s other endgame activities.

Alien- Romulus Will Release On VHS, Something No Major Studio Has Done In 18 Years

It’s apparently been 18 years since a major studio has released a movie on VHS, but that drought will be broken when Alien: Romulus comes out for the outdated platform on December 3. That’s right: An actual tape of the sci-fi horror movie is getting made, though it will be a limited edition.

The official Alien account on X shared that Alien: Romulus writer/director Fede Álvarez revealed the special VHS release at Beyond Fest over the weekend. Artist Matt Ferguson has created the cover for the tape, which will come out at the same time as the Alien: Romulus Blu-ray. The previous major studio release on VHS was reportedly A History of Violence in 2006, according to Inverse. 20th Century Studios–now owned by Disney–is behind the Alien: Romulus VHS launch.

iPhones Might Soon Drop Lightning Cables

It’s looking even more likely iPhones will soon drop lightning cables, as all smartphones sold in the European Union will have to use USB-C ports by fall 2024. This will include Apple’s iPhone and other electronic devices such as portable video game consoles, tablets, laptops, etc.

According to The Verge, this legislation has been in the works for more than a decade, with both parties agreeing to make the change. The legislation will still need to be approved by both the European Union Parliament and Council later this year, though it seems very likely the law will pass.

It was previously reported that the current Apple products that still use lightning chargers are Airpods, Apple TV remote, the MagSafe battery pack, the MagSafe Duo charger, and the iPhone. The iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad Mini, and Macs have already switched to USB-C.

Last year Apple openly criticized the move, telling Reuters that the legislation “stifles innovation rather than encouraging …

Inside Review

A world, broken at the hands of technological progress, decays in silence and darkness. Cowed and enslaved people shuffle mindlessly through the streets. Overseers dressed in masks and black clothes stand at the corners, waiting for one of the slaves to fall out of line, watching the soulless masses as they are forced to jump and dance. A featureless boy in the midst of it all walks through this dystopia wearing a red shirt, one of the only touches of color in this oppressive world.

This is Inside, the second game from Limbo developer Playdead. Like Limbo, the gameplay is simple: you have to walk, jump, and grab objects in order to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. Ultimately, however, the game is about your journey through a tyrannical, unknowable, and apocalyptic world. Over the course of a few hours, you descend ever deeper into the heart of a malicious and immense construct that threatens to suffocate agency and humanity.
